At the University of Michigan, we’re dedicated to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments. That’s why digital accessibility—removing barriers so every student can use course materials—is a campus-wide priority, as well as a compliance requirement according to federal law and U-M policy.
Many faculty and instructors are new to digital accessibility. It can feel overwhelming, especially with all the other demands on your time. To help, we offer tools and support, including Panorama, a tool built right into Canvas.
What is Panorama?
Panorama is an add-on for Canvas that gives you information about the accessibility of course content. Using automated checks, it scans your materials against established international standards and gives you clear, easy-to-understand reports. It also provides practical tools and simple guidance so you can make improvements and meaningful progress.
Important to Know
Panorama makes the work easier, but not automatic. It highlights areas that need attention and offers tools for improvement, but many changes still require your review and expertise.
Next Steps
Getting started is the most important step. Follow the suggested starting points below to begin using Panorama and make your course content more accessible.
